    Thanksgiving Yoga Flow

    Malasana Yoga Pose

The beginning of the holiday season is a time when we naturally pause to reflect. What are we truly grateful for? How much abundance do we have in our lives? It’s also a time to think about the people and moments that make our hearts feel full. But with that fullness can come a mix of emotions. Sometimes we feel immense joy, while other times we might long for things or people we miss.

These reflections, along with the comforting yet heavy meals that come with Thanksgiving, can leave us feeling physically and emotionally overwhelmed. While the holiday season is meant to be a time of connection and celebration, it can also make our minds and bodies feel a bit too “full”—sometimes in wonderful ways, other times not so much.

An 8-Step Yoga Sequence for Thanksgiving

A yoga practice designed to balance these feelings of fullness can help us find both clarity and comfort. By combining mindfulness, gratitude, and movement, we can reconnect with ourselves and relieve the sense of heaviness.

    1. Seated Meditation (Sukhasana): Start with a few minutes of deep breathing. Reflect on the abundance in your life and what you're grateful for.

    2. Seated Cat-Cow: Gently warm up your spine and connect breath with movement.

    3. A few rounds of Half and Full Sun Salutations to warm up.

    4. Twisted Chair Pose (Parivrtta Utkatasana): Stimulates digestion while building strength.

    5. Low Lunge Twist (Anjaneyasana with a twist): Open the hips and aid digestion with a gentle twist.

    6. Forward Fold (Uttanasana): Let go of tension in the back and neck, encouraging release and relaxation.
